The Journaling Prompt That Changed My Days
Getting it on paper will change your life. Here's how.
I started journaling back in college and it has been one of the most beneficial things I’ve done for my life. Something about getting thoughts out on paper, intentionally writing it out has helped me get through all kinds of things.
Just like a lot of things, it’s good to have a plan. Or something to follow. Structure if you will. Over the last several months, I have been following this journal prompt and it has helped me get clear on my values, practice gratitude, and leaves me thinking clearer all day. I called it my “Daily Alignment ritual.”
As usual, I am no expert, I just know what works for me and I want to share that with you. Now, without further ado, let’s get to it!
Look Back
Reflect on yesterday.
What went well? What challenged you? What did you learn? What are you proud of? What would you may have done differently?
Look In
Check in with yourself.
What stands out the most right now?
What is taking up space in your mind today?
What do you need most today?
How do you want to show up today?
Look Up
Gain perspective.
Here is where you can do a couple different things: read Scripture, devotional, quotes, book, etc.
Write 1 key takeaway.
Most important part: Write 3 things you are grateful for.
Look Ahead
Prepare for the day.
Is there a situation today that may be challenging?
What attitude/mindset do you want to bring to the day?
Write down your top 3 priorities and your “frog.” (Hardest task of the day)
There ya have it! That’s it. Nothing crazy. Just a good framework to form thoughts and help you write it out. You can shorten it if needed. I certainly have days where I have to. It isn’t something that has to be so strict. Just make it work for you.
Now, get to writing!
