The Weekly Review
September 27th, 2025
Hello! Glad to be back for another edition of The Weekly Review and the last one for the month of September… WHAT?! Yeah, I know. Same reaction I had. Time is moving on and here soon, we will be celebrating 1 year of Jake’s Journal. Wild to think about. However, until then, let’s not waste any time. Time for this week’s review!
Things I Found Interesting
All article links are in bold italics.
There is nothing like being outside. The fresh air, the sun on the skin, smells of nature, maybe a slight breeze hitting you. It’s euphoric. And I’d like to take it a step further and say exercising outside is even better! Turns out, science agrees with that statement! The weather is about to be perfect for it. Can’t wait to hit a couple outdoor workouts here soon.
Ladies and gentlemen, I know we are getting into the thick of football season but I do not want you to forget about one of the best sporting events of the year happening right now - The Ryder Cup. USA vs Europe golf match. Only happens every 2 years. It’s electric. To get you pumped up, here is an awesome video packed with tales from the Ryder Cup.
By now, if you have been a reader of mine, you hopefully know my stance on ultra-processed foods. They are terrible for you. Physically, mentally, even emotionally. They are practically poison. Therefore, if you haven’t yet, it’s time to ditch ultra-processed foods once and for all. I know, it’s hard. I get it. But, it will only bring future problems down the line if you don’t do something about it now.
Fall is approaching and with it is a season of change and newness. Cooler weather, different clothing options, shorter days, a shift in energy. It’s weird how the seasons of the year mimic the seasons of life. Take note of where you’re at and maybe even set an intention list for the upcoming season. Don’t let it just pass by.
Picture Of The Week
Okay, I know this picture was *technically* taken a week ago but I just like it and wanted to share on here. Snagged this photo last week as my Ole Miss Rebels handled Tulane. Looking forward to another awesome matchup this weekend.
On My Mind
We can’t fix it if we never face it. I don’t know about you, but more often than not, I will procrastinate on a problem. I will do my best to avoid it, put it off, whatever it takes to just not face it. I can be aware of the problem, I know it exists, it’s just in the back of my mind. It might sound simple and cliche, but a problem will never go away unless you give it deliberate attention. Let’s quit putting off things and start facing them.

Game I’m Watching This Weekend
If any of you are using my picks as betting advice, I apologize. I have been close in a lot of these but close doesn’t count. This week, I am feeling good. I am fired up for this matchup between my alma mater, the Ole Miss Rebels and the LSU Tigers. This is going to be a dog fight. Two solid defenses, two teams that could be well in the mix for a playoff spot at the end of the year. Ole Miss is trying to get revenge from last year’s walk off loss in Death Valley. Who will be the starting QB for Ole Miss? That is a tough question. Can Ole Miss find a way to get a big win? Will LSU roll on? We will find out Saturday. Spot the ball.
Game of the Week: #4 LSU at #13 Ole Miss (-1.5)
Who I Think Will Win: Ole Miss
My Record on Picks So Far: 1-3
Song of the Week
My “serenity song” if you will. One of my favorites. A classic. Provided a much needed pick me up moment this week. Enjoy.
Motivation for the Week
“You don't need to worry about progressing slowly. You need to worry about climbing the wrong mountain.” - James ClearIf you keep doing what you are doing, are you good with where it leads? This has been a question and a worry of mine over the last couple of years. In the past, I will be working my tail off, grinding away at something, only to realize I am going in the wrong direction.
We often strive so hard because we want to see results fast, but when those results don’t come, we get bogged down and pivot. But that’s the point: progress doesn’t have to be fast to be meaningful. What matters is direction. If you’re climbing the right mountain, the one aligned with your values, your vision, and the life you want, then every small step compounds. But if you’re sprinting up the wrong mountain, no amount of speed or discipline will bring satisfaction when you reach the top.
This is a great time of the year to stop, audit where you are at and be sure it aligns with what you truly want.
Get outside this weekend. Enjoy some of the cooler weather. Wear something nice. Eat a steak. Watch your favorite movie. Just live. Wishing you a wonderful weekend and next week, until then.
Cheers,
JH
